Chapter 1: Introduction


Las Vegas is one of the most tourist attractions in America. Las Vegas is mainly known as Sin City and many people come to the city of Las Vegas because of one of our famous landmarks; The Las Vegas Strip. Several Strip hotels made the walkway pedestrian friendly and Individuals are able to walk the Strip which is about 4.2 miles (7.2 km). There are also shuttles if people wanted time off from their feet. The strip mainly consists of hotels and resorts and many of the largest hotels are located on the Las Vegas Strip. Besides the typical gambling Las Vegas is known for, there are other means for entertainment such as, shows, outdoor activities, pool areas, and shopping centers. Other than the strip, Las Vegas is one of best places to visit and live because there are also recreational activities for individuals to encounter with beautiful scenery. For example, the Valley of Fire (55 mile drive from Las Vegas), Mt. Charleston (35 miles NW of Las Vegas), Red Rock Canyon (13 mile drive from Las Vegas), Lake Mead/Hoover Dam (30 miles E of Las Vegas), Zion Bryce Canyon (2.5 hour drive from Las Vegas), and the Grand Canyon (300 miles SE of Las Vegas). Las Vegas is actually a great location to live and with the McCarran International Airport it makes it very easy for anyone in the world to visit.
